2005-06 Roller Hockey Team Inducted into Lindenwood Sports Hall of Fame

(October 24, 2013) The 2005-06 Lindenwood University roller hockey team was inducted into the Lindenwood Sports Hall of Fame at the annual Hall of Fame banquet October 18 in St. Charles, Mo.  The team was one of seven new inductees honored for 2013.

The 2005-06 Lions were one of the most dominant teams in roller hockey history.  They compiled a 40-0-0 record and outscored their opponents 377-32 on the season, which culminated with a fifth straight National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (NCRHA) Championship.  At that event, Lindenwood won all seven games it played by an average of 7.7 goals, ending with a 7-5 victory over Michigan State in the title contest.

Two Lions were named to the NCRHA 2006 All-Tournament Team.  Greg Thompson was honored with a first team selection while Travis Fudge earned a spot on the second team.

Head coach of the 2006 team, and current head coach Ron Beilsten remembered the championship squad after the Hall of Fame banquet.  â€œThe 2005-06 team was the true definition of Team.  Every player contributed in some way to the success of the season,” he said. â€œI told them after the ceremony that as great as that championship was, I remember the journey of the entire season even more.  It truly was my honor to coach this wonderful bunch of guys from all over the country!”

Lindenwood roller hockey extended the streak of consecutive championships to seven straight in 2007 and 2008.  The Lions also won the title in 2010 and are the reigning NCRHA champions for 2013. They began the 2013-14 season last weekend with three wins, scoring at least 10 goals in each game.
