Day 3 Recap

Friday, April 4th, saw an exciting series of games unfold. Round robin finished up in Division 1, 2 and 3, while AA got started first thing in the morning. From overtime cliffhangers to commanding victories, the day was filled with great matchups. Here’s a recap of the action that took place on the ice throughout the day:
The day kicked off early with some great AA round robin games. Grand Canyon and Slippery Rock went to overtime, with Slippery Rock emerging victorious 4-3. Not far behind, Michigan State pulled out a 7-5 win over Arizona in a fast-paced matchup.
Lindenwood’s first AA round robin game a decisive 7-2 victory against Arizona State, while Boston secured a 4-2 win over Ohio State. The early games showcased strong performances from teams looking to make a statement early in the day.
The action heated up further in the mid-morning games. Cortland fought hard but fell 3-2 to Robert Morris. Meanwhile, Michigan State continued their strong form with a 6-4 win over Quinnipiac, securing another important victory for the Spartans.
Ohio State made their presence felt with a commanding 7-1 win over Cal Poly, while Purdue took down Cal Poly Pomona 8-4 in an action-packed contest.
The afternoon kicked off with a solid win for CSU Fullerton, who triumphed 5-2 over Farmingdale. UT-Chattanooga struggled against RIT, falling 6-2 in their afternoon clash. The high scoring continued as Temple outlasted Hofstra in a 10-8 thriller, while Stony Brook dominated Vermont 10-1.
As the afternoon progressed, Neumann comfortably beat Endicott 6-2, while Florida Gulf Coast came out on top with a 7-2 victory over Massachusetts. Slippery Rock secured another win, defeating Robert Morris 2-0, and Yeshiva narrowly edged Florida 5-3 in an elimination matchup.
As the evening games began, the competition was fierce. Penn State delivered a dominant 8-0 performance against Oswego, while Kennesaw State claimed a 4-2 win over Purdue.
One of the highlights came when Ohio State pulled off a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory against Michigan State. Maryville also impressed with a 4-2 win over UT-Chattanooga.
CSU Fullerton held on to defeat Northeastern 6-4, while Michigan State fell 1-4 to Slippery Rock, earning the Titans and Price a spot in the Division 2 Semifinals tomorrow.
As the night went on, the action didn’t let up. Arizona State took on Arizona, and after a dramatic overtime period, Arizona State triumphed 3-2. In a closely contested AA match, Grand Canyon University also secured a 3-2 victory over Arizona.
In one of the later games of the night, Rowan defeated Henry Ford College 4-1, showcasing a well-rounded performance. Lindenwood AA followed that up with an impressive 8-1 victory over Ohio State AA, sending a strong message to their competition.
Boston took on Arizona State in another exciting AA match, coming out victorious 3-1. Meanwhile, Tampa cruised past Temple with a 7-1 win in an outstanding performance.
As the night wound down, Florida Gulf Coast edged out Rhode Island 5-4 in a close contest, while Loyola Marymount University couldn’t overcome Colorado, falling 3-6. The final game of the day saw Illinois State pull out a 5-3 win over Stony Brook, rounding off an action-packed day of college hockey.
Friday features Division 1 and 2 Semifinals and Championship Games, starting at 10:00am and culminating at 6pm with the Division 2 Championship Game and 7:30pm with the Division 1 Championship Game.
