############################################################ The ECRHA is proud to be supported by Concrete Pond Hockey (www.concretepond.com), Rocket Hockey (www.rockethockey.com ), Allstar Athletics (www.allstarathletics.com), The Hockey Depot (www.thehockeydepot.com), Black Biscuit (www.blackbiscuit.com), Inline Hockey Central (www.inlinehockeycentral.com) Maltese Hockey (www.maltesehockey.com) Pointstreak Electronic Gamesheet System (www.pointstreak.com) ############################################################ Hello Ladies and Gentlemen; Summer is here and there are many exciting things afoot in the ECRHA. Even though most are on summer break, the ECRHA staff is working their tails off to better the ECRHA College Program. Where will you go when you're done with high school? The ECRHA will provide a future, but needs your support. We need your support at the Regional level and also at the National level. We need leadership in the roller hockey community and leadership amongst the players themselves. It is evident that there is no longer any doubt that roller hockey has proven itself in this country as a growing, lasting, and worthwhile sport. The ECRHA and our parent league, the CRHL, will take that to another level and ensure that this sport exists on the collegiate level. However we need support! We need support of all kinds, from staff support and funds, to education in the colleges. This summer, we will look to broaden all our relationships and build bridges in the hockey community. We will look for leaders to start clubs in the schools, as well as take those clubs to other levels; enticing colleges to recognize the value of this interest and support it. We will be the future for this sport. For those of you who are not familiar with the Collegiate Roller Hockey League, the parent League of the ECRHA, I invite you to learn more about it, and I challenge you to get involved. www.crhl.net Won't you please take the time to attend a CRHL event near you? Tell a high school senior that they can have roller hockey in college. Contribute your support may it be dollars, products, or just the simple recognition of the CRHL as a worthwhile future. How about making a local high school league in your area aware of the CRHL or helping a freshman start a club. So What's New in the ECRHA? Congratulations to the ECRHA teams who made the journey to CRHL National Championship Tournament in St. Louis MO. While the ECRHA was unable to go home with another National Champion, we sure had a great time. The ECRHA will be host to the CRHL National Championship 2003. Congratulations to Ryan Beliveau and Brandon Luckino, both of Rochester Institute of Technology, for making team Canada and playing in the Pan-Am games this past May. While we hear so much about Team USA, let's not forget that we have Canadians playing in the ECRHA too! Condolences to our staff member whose car was stolen in Philadelphia. While his car has been recovered, over $1500 worth of his hockey equipment that was in the car, was not-including his university jersey. For more on the stolen equipment please go to the IHC's Message Board at www.inlinehockeycentral.com Team ECRHA Team ECRHA is still looking for college players to travel this summer and represent the ECRHA at summer events such as NARCh and USAHIL. If you are a college player, please go to www.ecrha.net to see how you can play on Team ECRHA this summer. ECRHA Comes to Long Island! The ECRHA announces our first event of the 2002-2003 season. Tell everyone that for the first time in almost 3 years, the ECRHA is coming back to Long Island, NY. October 12-14 come have fun with us at Skate Safe of America and see 40 College teams participate in the ECRHA Pre-Season Jamboree. Come see incredible college games such as Division I teams playing Division II teams, rematches from Nationals, and two extra-extravagant featured games: Battle of the Sexes and College All-Stars against a guest 'pro-team'. Hmmmm, will it be RIT vs. Northeastern, or Penn State vs. West Chester? How about Binghamton or Buffalo vs. Altoona, Delaware, or Boston? The possible matches are endless. Long Island is a roller hockey hotbed and home to more then 50 of our players and 5 of our Board Members. Virginia Tech Gets Rink This is exactly what College Roller Hockey need-rinks on campus! Congratulations guys and thanks to your Administration for recognizing your achievements and dedication! For more on this story go to www.ecrha.net ECRHA Merges with our Neighbors to the North The ECRHA has made a wonderful proposal to the NECRHA to join ranks with us. The proposal has the support of the CRHL since it would make us one step closer in unifying college roller hockey. If the teams of the NECRHA accept the benefits of such a proposal, the ECRHA will operate with over 40 teams this coming season and add the 10 member colleges from the New England Area into our competitive line-up. The proposal is receiving favorable reaction and looks to be finalized by the end of the month. **the Merge became official on 6/22/2002. More info to come later this summer You Name the Conferences With or without a merge with our northern neighbors, the ECRHA will be large enough that Conferences are being researched. However, with a full merge, Conferences will definitely be part of the ECRHA. You name them! Where else can you have an opportunity to name Conferences for College sports? Go to www.ecrha.net and click on the Message Board. Full rules appear there. Good Luck. Be original! ECRHA Free College Clinics Attend a free ECRHA College clinic this Fall at an ECRHA event near you and run drills with our players. Schedule will be released later this Summer. If you're an individual, check out our message board just for player recruitment or drop an email to [email protected]. Special Thank You's This Newsletter sends a special thank you to the Directors of two facilities: Jay Mazer from the Susquehanna Sports Arena in Harrisburg PA, and Paul Rossi of Center Circle in Rahway NJ. Both of these gentlemen and their two facilities have been wonderful supporters of the ECRHA for years. We cherish them both as we feel the roller hockey community should and wish there were more roller hockey supporters with hearts as big as these two. Good luck to Jay on his playing excursions and good luck to Paul on his new journey. You guys are both the greatest! Education Dedication Motivation The ECRHA wants you!
