NCRHA Division I Matchup of the Week

Lindenwood vs. Slippery Rock

Saturday, January 21 – 10am and Sunday, January 22 – 10am

Season Head to Head after this weekend: Lindenwood leads season series with 1 win and 1 overtime loss

In game 1, Slippery Rock got off to an early lead with a power play goal by Matthew Vrankovich. Slippery Rock would score again almost 8 minutes into the 2nd period, answered by a Lindenwood goal. The score was 2-1 heading into the 3rd period. Slippery Rock scored again on the power play, making it a 3-1 lead. Lindenwood would score 2 goals just under 2 minutes apart to tie the game with 3:39 remaining, forcing overtime. A scoreless overtime with 4 Lindenwood shots on goal vs. 0 Slippery Rock shots on goal meant we were headed for a shootout. After 3 shootout attempts, it was a scoreless shootout, meaning sudden death. In the first sudden death shootout, Slippery Rock’s Aj Adamski scored, while SRU goaltender Logan Johnson shut down the 4th Lindenwood shooter, for the Slippery Rock 4-3 shootout win. The #1 star goes to Slippery Rock goaltender Logan Johnson for stopping over 90% of Lindenwood shots in the game, including 4 in overtime and 4 in the shootout.

In game 2 on Sunday morning, Lindenwood avenged their Saturday loss. Slippery Rock again got on the board first, 9:45 into the game. 2 Lindenwood goal sin the 2nd period made it 2-1 heading into the 3rd period. The teams traded power play goals in the 3rd, making it 3-2 with 4:23 remaining. Slippery Rock pulled the goaltender for the extra attacker as the clock wound down, and Lindenwood added an empty net goal with 3 seconds left in the game for the 4-2 win. Lindenwood’s Connor Bradley had 2 goals in the game, including the game-winner, for the #1 star.

 

NCRHA Division II Matchup of the Week

Penn State vs. Stony Brook

Saturday, January 21 – 8am

Season Head to Head prior to this weekend: 1-1, Penn State defeated Stony Brook 7-6 in a shootout on Nov 5 and Stony Brook defeated Penn State 5-3 on Nov 19

Season Head to Head after this weekend: Penn State leads season series 2 games to 1 (Penn State beat Stony Brook 4-2 this weekend)

Penn State jumps to 2nd place in the ECRHA Division 2 standings with a 4-2 win over Stony Brook this weekend, plus 2 overtime losses against Cortland and Ohio State . Stony Brook sits tied for 6th, just 3 points shy of the 3 teams that are tied for 3rd.

A game with no penalties and no scoring in the 1st, Penn State would score 2 goals just 16 seconds apart deep in the 2nd period. Stony Brook would tie it up with a late 2nd period goal and early 3rd period goal. Penn State added 2 more late in the game for the 4-2 win. Penn State’s Ryan Puskar and Wes Olsen had 2 goals a piece, which earned them the #1 and #2 stars of the game.

 

NCRHA Division III Matchup of the Week

Florida Gulf Coast vs. Hofstra

Saturday, January 21 – 5pm and 9pm

Season Head to Head: 0-0, teams have not yet met this season

Season Head to Head after this weekend: 1-1 (Hofstra defeated FGCU 15-6 at 5pm, then FGCU defeated Hofstra 2-1 at 9pm)

Hofstra sits at the top of the ECRHA Division 3 standings, with 11 wins and 3 losses on the season. Oswego and Quinnipiac sit just 4 points back. This doubleheader shows a remarkable recovery by Florida Gulf Coast. In game 1, Hofstra won 15-6, with 11 goals by Britt Bischoff and 4 by Collin Ewald., which earned them the #1 and #2 stars. In game 2, FGCU was able to shut down Bischoff and Ewald, with Bischoff scoring the lone Hofstra goal. FGCU’s Matthew Redfering and Taylor Gagnon scored for the Eagles, with Gagnon getting the game-winner with 65 seconds left in the game.

Next the FGCU Eagles travel to Manchester, MO to face off against MCRHL opponents Maryville, Illinois State, Missouri S&T and SCHL’s Louisiana Tech.

 

NCRHA Division AA Matchup of the Week

Farmingdale vs. Lindenwood Gold

Saturday January 21 – 3pm and Sunday January 22 – 8am

Season Head to Head prior to this weekend: 0-0, teams have not yet met this season

Season Head to Head after this weekend: Lindenwood Gold leads season series 2-0 (11-0 and 10-1 wins this weekend)

2 big wins by Lindenwood Gold show why they are still the team to beat. Game 1 was an 11-0 Lindenwood win, with Bryce Pierce and Landon Kooker leading the charge with 2 goals and 2 assists a piece, with Cameron Green also netting 2 goals and 7 others also in on the scoring. Game 2 was more of the same, this time with Cameron Rodriguez leading with 2 goals and 2 assists, followed by Andrew DeClantis with the hat trick and several other Lions on the board as well.

Lindenwood Gold also beat Slippery Rock twice this weekend, and is 11-0-1 on the season. Farmingdale won their other 2 games of the weekend (against Ohio State 5-1 and Slippery Rock 4-3) and sit in 1st place in the ECRHA AA Division standings, 4 points ahead of 2nd place Slippery Rock.

 

NCRHA Cross-Divisional Matchup of the Week

Farmingdale vs. Henry Ford College

Saturday January 21 – 10pm

Season Head to Head prior to this weekend: 0-0, teams have not yet met this season

Season Head to Head after this weekend: Henry Ford leads season series 1-0 (9-2 win this weekend)

Henry Ford, despite a close game as far as the shot count goes, came up with a huge 9-2 win against Farmingdale this weekend. Henry Ford’s Dustin Foran netted 5 goals including 2 on the powerplay and also the game-winner. Dylan Pattenaude has 2 goals and 1 assist, including a short handed goal. Goaltender Carter Pattenaude stopped 28 of the 30 shots he faced. Henry Ford is now 7-6 on the season, in their matchups mainly against Division 1 and Division 2 teams. Farmingdale is now 4-9 on the season, sitting in 3rd place in the ECRHA Division 1 standings.

Henry Ford has another heavy schedule on Feb 4-5 in Palatine, IL, where they will face Arizona State (D1), Grand Canyon (D1), Ohio State (D2) and Lindenwood Gold (AA). Farmningdale will next play that same weekend in North Arlington< NJ against Slippery Rock and a triple header against Rowan.
