The Endicott College Roller Hockey Team is off to a great start. In the Gulls' inaugural season, they have played seven games and are 4-2-1. This past weekend in Bethpage, New York, Endicott went 3-1, beating Villanova, SUNY Oswego and Stony Brook. In its fourth game, Endicott jumped out to a 3-0 lead over Yeshiva but ran out of gas late to drop the game, 6-4.

"I’m proud of this group," says Captain Corey Eisenband. "We’ve come a very long way in a very short period. I think we have proven ourselves to be a top team in our league, and we’re going to keep getting better every game.” Endicott lost their first two games of the season and then proceeded to win four straight until the loss to Yeshiva.

“Most of us hadn’t ever played real roller hockey before," says Assistant Captain Tyler Peabody. "We’re learning this form of hockey as we go. We’re a bunch of ice hockey players playing a more ice hockey style than these other teams and I think it confuses them a bit.”

“Not many teams have a true third line," Eisenband added. "We have a line where they know their job is to grind, be physical and block shots, it’s fun to watch.”

Through the first few weeks of the season, Eisenband leads Endicott, as well as the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (NCRHA) in goals and points (17 goals, 8 assists, 25 points). Eisenband’s line mate, Peabody, has the second most points for the Gulls (7 goals, 4 assists, 11 points). Goaltender Mathew Klarnet leads Endicott and the ECRHA with a goals against average of 2.85 and a Save Percentage of 0.896.

Endicott hits the rink next in Feasterville, Pennsylvania, on Nov. 19, where the Gulls meet Delaware, Penn State, Drexel and Yeshiva. “We’d really like to go 4-0," Eisenband says. "We wanted that this past weekend and came one period short. The goal is to be at Nationals in Fort Myers at the end of the year, and we know every game matters.”
