Rivals Unite For The Greater Good
ECRHA October 27th, 2013 at 11:00AMRivals unite for the greater good.
The Stony Brook/ Hofstra rivalry has
been one of the best in the league over the years. This rivalry has
resulted in great victories and bitter defeats for both teams, with a
fair share of blood, sweat, and tears being shed along the way.
On November 1st, the rivalry
will be set-aside for the time being, and the two teams will unite on
a crusade to put a dent in the hunger problem on Long Island.
According to the 2010 Hunger in America Report, there are
283,700 low-income individuals on Long Island alone who are in need
of food. This represents a 21% increase since the 2006 report, and
has been increasing ever since.
By working together, Hofstra and Stony
Brook have set a goal to collect a minimum of 300 lbs. of
non-perishable food to donate to Island harvest. We will be setting
up a drop off table at Skate Safe during the Bethpage tournament for
anyone willing to donate food. We kindly ask for your cooperation to
help make this event a huge success.
