Delaware Pounds Cornell 11-2

Justin Kozak registered 5 assists as
Delaware overcame an early deficit to roll over Cornell 11-2 in the
first game of the regular season.
After falling behind just 2:06 into the
first period, Gerrard Gallo scored his first of three goals to tie
things up at one with 4:52 remaining in the first. It was Gallo again
just under two minutes later who put Delaware on top for good with
his second goal of the period.
Taylor McCracken scored his first of
two goals in the second period and Eric Downes scored as well to
extend Delaware's lead to 5-1.
However, Kenneth Bogert of Cornell
scored his second goal of the game late in the second period to cut
the Blue Hens lead to 5-2 after two periods of play.
The third period was all Delaware as
the Blue Hens added six third period goals by six different players.
Eric Downes, Gerrard Gallo, Jeff Strickland, Michael Dean, Kevin
Rafferty and Doug Holley all scored in the third to push the final
margin to 11-2.
Ryan Davis made six saves in earning
his first victory, while Evan Weinberg came in late in the third
period, turning away the only shot he faced.
