Tyler Walser enjoying an off-season jaunt up to Toronto,ON.

After being idle for 2 months, the University of Buffalo D1 Wings came roaring back this past weekend in Mount Pleasant, PA.  Taking on teams from RIT, Pitt, and Penn State, the boys came away a perfect 3-0.

RIT Game: After a bit of a sluggish start, the Wings, all decked out in their gorgeous new helmets, played a dynamic third period to come away with a 4-1 victory over RIT.  Richie "The Tone" LaTona was back to his usual ways, shutting down the lackluster attempt of an offensive attack from the RIT offense.  The Wings' duo of Adam Hirsch and Jason Francobandiero played a perfect game, shutting down RIT and getting themselves on the scoresheet.

Pitt Game: By the second game, the Wings' powerhouse offensive duo of "Baby" Joe Malinowski and Tyler "The magician/ Assassin/ Philllll" had found their touch - as they connected for numerous goals.  The Wings defense played strong as well - with Steve Ostrow, Jay SLUTsky, and Brandon "sunshine" Gasiewicz anchoring the back end.  Shaun Golden was missing from the bench for the second and third periods, but could be found in the cheering section leading the crowd.  P.S. Golden DID NOT BUTT END ANYONE IN THIS GAME.

SATURDAY NIGHT:  As always, the Wings players and coaches had some fun off the rink; some of the players explored the metropolis that is Mount Pleasant, PA.  Discovering the the lounge at the Days Inn, the Wings got their groove on - enjoying the fantastic live music of "Switch," and mingling with the cougars that were out on the prowl.  They almost saw a fight, and a the chant of "USA" may have been the highlight of the night.  Note: all had a great time except Jay SLUTsky - who rarely ever does.

Penn State Game:  Looking to avenge their only loss of the season, the Wings came out flying on Sunday morning against Penn State.  Missing the intense coaching of Mike Brennan, Tim "Bowman" was running the bench for this game.  The boys from Buffalo took the lead early and never looked back - surprise of the day was Brandon "Sunshine" Gasiewicz, who put 2 highlight reel goals into the net.  He did not talk about his goals very much after the game.  Walser and Golden each put 2 snipes into the back of the net, while "Baby" Joe led the way with a hat-trick.  By the final buzzer, the Wings had put away Penn State 10-2; the team is anxious to get back to work this coming weekend in Feasterville, PA.

B Team Update:  The boys on the B squad also had a stellar weekend; going 3-0 and continuing their undefeated season.  Chris Territo was strong in the pipes throughout and the offense continued to roll; Timmy Newbold, Jeff Elias, Ryan Kelly, and the KLIMEK BROTHERS are constantly adding to the scoresheet.  Defense corps of Kevin "The General" Cook, Brian Goldman, and Nicholas VON Narchus continued their steady play on the blueline.  Look out for the Wings to continue to climb to the top of the Nation.
