Rival Brockport Looks To Upset #13 Raiders

Shippensburg, PA â?? When classes are finished this afternoon, the Raiders will begin a three-hour journey out west to Pittsburgh to continue the regular season. The steady downpours that have dominated the day could be taken as a sign for the Raiders who are in need of an emotional boost.

After an extremely tough and exhausting practice late Thursday night, the Raiders turned their attention to their weekendâ??s competition. The Raiders face three teams with a combined record of seven wins and two losses. After taking to the rink twice on Saturday against Cornell and Slippery Rock, the Raiders will have the opportunity to win the go away game on Sunday.

In that game, the Raiders take on a very talented and familiar Brockport. Brockport and Shippensburg have a long history together as the two clubs travel to the 2006 national championships together and have since supported each otherâ??s teams off the rink.

However, when the two teams take the rink on Sunday, the Raiders will be leaving their friendships on the bench as a win and bragging rights is at stake. Brockport has dominated the all-time series lately, winning the previous four games, a streak Shippensburg would like to end.

In their previous meeting, Brockport, lead by first team All-American Brian Bauman (1g, 6a), dominated the Raiders en route to a 12-1 victory. In that game, Brockport scored six goals in just under three minutes to blow open what was until then a closely contended game.

Brockport is lead by veteran Cory Miller. Miller tallied on assist and chipped in three goals in the pre-season event. Also with four points was second year player Bryan Haxton. Haxton registered two goals and two assists for the Golden Eagles in their win.
