Greetings from the NCRHA! 

All teams are required to complete the Divisional Application Form (previously known as Team Commitment Form) for the 2012-2013 season. This form is due by June 1, 2012, much earlier than the October deadline in years past.  This early due date will enable your team and your Member Organization staff to better plan for the upcoming 2012-2013 season.  Please read page 1 which details the process and fill out pages 2 and 3 in their entirety. 

The time has come for all players, coaches, fans, or other party, to submit their great ideas!  This is the time for you to propose changes to Playing Rules, League Operations, Uniform Requirements, and more!

The NCRHA Documents that are up for revision include the NCRHA Rulebook, NCRHA League Operations Manual, and NCRHA Bylaws.  All three documents are posted on www.NCRHA.org under Registration, Documents.

Bethel?s narrow margin of victories was just enough to squeeze past multiple teams in the single-elimination brackets, and the team proved that it is not the score that matters, it is the win itself, whatever the score.  Bethel?s first elimination game was against UMSL, who they defeated 2-1 in overtime.  Both teams traded goals in the 1st period, followed by 2 scoreless periods. Just under 6 minutes into the overtime, Bethel?s Josh Foote scored to give Bethel the 2-1 victory, advancing to the Elite Eight.

The NCRHA is proud to announce the 2012 "Outstanding Contribution to Collegiate Roller Hockey" Award Winners!  The NCRHA is proud to present this special award honoring  a player, coach or staff member from each of the NCRHA?s Member Organizations who best exemplify leadership qualities on and off the rink and have made a noteworthy contribution to the advancement of Collegiate Roller Hockey.

For the second consecutive year, Lindenwood University has been eliminated from the tournament earlier than expected.  This year it was UNLV who dashed the hopes of the perennial powerhouse Lindenwood, who had a strong round robin, playing in Pool A and posting a record of 2 wins and 1 tie, and a goal differential of +8.  UNLV went undefeated in Pool C, with a goal differential of +12.

The first ever meeting between Maryville and Northeastern was a game of control and a battle between goaltenders. Northeastern won the opening faceoff only to lose control of the puck in the Maryville zone. Maryville then went on to control and regroup the puck for a good solid 3 minutes in their zone.

The ECRHA is proud to announce we will be hosting our first annual awards banquet on Friday March 2nd 2012. The location and time of the banquet are still being sorted out, but we are please to announce our award nominations for this season. Team reps will be getting an email today with instructions on how to vote:

Jesse: That's a lie and you know it.  Anyway, onto the games- let's start with Division I.

This marks the 10th consecutive year the ECRHA will be hosting its annual regional championship event at The Sportsplex. However, for the first time in the history of the event, game will be hosted on Friday afternoon as opposed to the normal start late Friday night.

Lindenwood was the big winner on the weekend in Division I, becoming the only team to walk out of the event without suffering a loss.

Due to the schedule change, some players are now unable to compete in the skills competition. As a result, your team may have changed.  Please check out the revised pairings/teams below.  We will update these accordingly on the blowups posted on the big board at the entrance between rinks 2 and 3.

After one semester of play, the season could not have gone much better for the Red Dragons. Sporting a perfect 6-0-0 record, Cortland has outscored its opponents by an impressive 66-14 margin. Leading the way offensively for Cortland are CJ Gilcrist (16-13-29) and Thomas Hughes (9-11-20).  Perhaps the most interesting part of Cortland?s season thus far is the fact that margin of victory for five of their games were at least eight or more goals.  Going into the second half of the season, one wonders if Cortland can keep up this torrid pace, or will they fall into a sense of complacency?

The National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association proudly announces the 14th National Collegiate Roller Hockey Championships, to be held April 11-16, 2012 in Salt Lake City, UT. Games will be played at the Utah Olympic Oval, site of the long track speedskating competition during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. The event will bring 58 teams in 4 divisions (Division I, Division II, Junior College Division, and B Division) together to compete for the title of Collegiate Roller Hockey National Champion.

The Susquehanna Sport Center was host to the last foray of the 2011 portion of our season before we head into the winter break; here's some of the exciting action from Saturday night and Sunday afternoon

 10 - West Chester vs 1 - Temple

Jonathan Lucente is continuing his assault on the ECRHA's Division I ranks as he posted a tremendous 6 point (3 goals, 3 assists) effort against the Temple Owls in the first featured game of the weekend. Jonathan wasn't alone as six of eight West Chester players managed to have a multi-point game.

With the semester ending as the winter break approaches we look back to the past weekend in Pottstown, PA.  

In Division I action, Neumann handed Stony Brook their first loss of the season by turning them aside by a 6-3 margin. Andy Zubak (1g,2a) and Ed Jones (2g) were the stars for the Knights.

The big story of the morning games was Rhode Island's first win in 33 games (0-32-1). Rhode Island rallied from a 2-0 deficit, powered by a pair of goals from both Anthony Benning and Cody Allard.

Devin Gee got the only goal of the first period, firing home the first of two goals on the evening.

The UNLV Rebels and the Western Collegiate Roller Hockey League (WCRHL) are proud to announce  an inter-regional event in Las Vegas!

The current date is set for Saturday February 4th, 2012 at the recently renovated Las Vegas Roller Hockey Center. Not only is the newly vamped rink located in the heart of Las Vegas (just 15 minutes from any major hotel) but it has added a restaurant area that is great for watching all the action and enjoying a bite to eat. This event is perfect for any out of region team to escape the typical winter weather, play competitive hockey, and appreciate everything Las Vegas has to offer!

Once a week, Commissioner William Bourque and Senior Staff/Marketing Committee member Jesse Creek will bring you a weekly roundtable discussion, focusing mainly on naming players of the week. In addition to players of the week, insights and predictions on weekends will often be included. Hopefully this is a fun thing that everyone enjoys and we can continue to expand it in the future.

Rowan vs. Suffolk JC (B Division)

Last week?s first star of the week, Mike Lantieri (Brick, NJ) was the story in this game, as his four goals helped propel Rowan to a close 7-6 victory.  Ricky Goadagno (Great River, NY) helped put Suffolk up 4-1 after one period, but Rowan scored four unanswered goals in the second period to take the lead, and they never looked back.

Hofstra vs. West Point (Division I)

The Hofstra Pride and the West Point Black Knights kicked off the evening games here at Feasterville.  Both teams came into the game at 3-1-0, looking to improve upon that mark.  After a scoreless first period, West Point scored two goals in four minutes, as Steve Gonzales (Madison, AL) and William Jacques (Peabody, MA) scored for West Point.  However, Hofstra fought back with four unanswered goals to take down West Point by a score of 4-2.  Pat Rosa (Bohemia, NY) and Sean Beatty (Lindenhurst, NY) led the way with two points each for the Pride.

Pittsburgh vs. Slippery Rock (Division II)

In this week?s first ECRHA Featured Game, Western Pennsylvania rivals Pittsburgh Panthers and the Slippery Rock Pride go toe-to-toe in what should be a very entertaining featured game.   Pittsburgh comes into the game with a perfect 4-0-0 record, while Slippery Rock is not far behind at a 3-0-1 record.  Despite the slight edge in points thus far, Slippery Rock has had the Panthers number in recent years, winning five out of their seven matchups since 2009.  The last time these two teams met was at the Columbus Day Kickoff Event, where Slippery Rock narrowly defeated Pittsburgh 7-5.  This intense matchup set the stage for what should be a very entertaining game here in Feasterville.

The action started early this weekend, as the B division was the first one to get underway here at the Sportsplex.  With fifty games on the docket for this weekend, this event in Feasterville serves as an early litmus test for all teams.  Let?s get to the games?

Rowan University Profs v. Rutgers University Scarlett Knights

The weather wasn't enough to keep New Jersey rivals Rowan from stirring up some fierce competition in Saturday's first featured game. The Profs fell behind early off of a Gary Rokozak (who would later on add two more to complete a hat trick) powerplay goal only a minute into the first period, after Jon Adams was rung up for a roughing penalty.

Rowan B skated past Brockport B in the first game of the day, earning a 5-2 victory.

In a division III battle between two bitter rivals the Lakers and Red Dragons squared off to renew their season series. The Lakers had won both of last year's meetings but were facing a Cortland squad determined to even up the all time record 2 wins a piece.

In the first game of the day, Cortland jumped all over Syracuse early and never looked back en route to a 10-0 win.  Max Stern provided plenty of offense, tallying four goals, while captain Tommy Farr chipped in three points in the effort. Cortland goalie Lou Vetri was not tested often, but calmly turned aside eleven shots en route to his first shutout of the season.

Our players range in age from 5 years to 18, both boys and girls. We also have the above 20 group, which is made up of men and women.

Lemoyne, PA - Action wrapped up here at the Susquehanna Sports Center tonight with a pair of DI & DII games. 

Pittsburgh (5)         Scranton (1)

Pittsburgh continues to roll this weekend and they earned a hard fought second win by dispatching Scranton by a 5-1 score.

  Temple B (4)      Towson B (1)

Temple B used a three goal second period to pull away from Towson B for their first victory of the season.

Leymone, PA - Action is officially underway at the Susquehanna Sports Center this morning with exciting action across three divisions. Penn State B, Slippery Rock, Pittsburgh and Penn State (DI) were all able to start the season off with a victory.

Going from East to West, ECRHA kicks off with their first regular season event (Columbus Day Kickoff last weekend was pre-season) in Lemoyne, PA.

1st Star: Zach Back, University of Connecticut (2-0-1, 2.67 GAA, .897 SPCT)

Zach Back (North Haven, CT) lead the Huskies to a 2-0-1 record over the weekend, posting impressive performances in goal. Zack posted a league best .897 save percentage in three games, turning asides 70 of the 78 shots he faced.

 Albany finished with just three wins last year but is looking for a big rebound year. They are relying on only four returning players from last year. Despite losing their top scorer from last year, they are hoping to bring in some new players to help pick up the load.

Cortland

Cortland finished in 4th place after the regular season (6-6-0), beating Oswego in a tie breaker.  In the playoffs, Cortland got booted in the quarters, coming in 5th place after the playoffs finished.  This year, Cortland has lots of new faces to add to its roster.  Cortland has added 6 new players this year, five of them being forwards, and one being their new starting goalie.  Of the five forwards they added, five have played PIHA, two played for Mission Black Ice, and one played for Suffolk CC.

Space is limited to the first 50 youth players (ages 5-15) to register via email to League Director Brennan Edwards at bedwards@wcrhl.com.  RSVP by Tuesday, October 11th, but space is limited, so act fast!

The ECRHA will be remembering the tragic events and honoring the victims of  9/11 during our 2011-2012 Columbus Day Kick-Off Event, October 7 - 9.  All players, fans, and coaches are encouraged to wear Red, White, and Blue in honor of the lives lost on this tragic day.
