Championships Format

Tie Breakers

The following tiebreakers will be used in all divisions for Regular Season & Playoffs:

  1. Total Points (Win = 2 Points, Overtime Loss = 1 Point)
  2. Head to Head (Skip if more than two teams are tied)
  3. Wins
  4. Goals Against (Least)
  5. Goals Scored (Most)
  6. Total Penalty Minutes (Least)
  7. Coin Toss
    1. Note - Once a tie breaker is used it is not repeated if two or more teams remain tied. Remaining tie breakers are continued and to be used in order.

 

Division 1 Playoffs

The top eight (8) teams will play a 3-game round robin. Pools will be split into two groups (1,4,5,8) & (2,3,6,7).  After the conclusion of round robin, the top three (3) teams from each pool will advance to a single elimination playoff. The winner of each pool will receive a bye into the semifinals. The second and third place teams will play a cross over quarterfinal game (2A vs 3B,  2B vs 3A).

Division 2 Playoffs

The top eight (8) teams will play a 3-game round robin. Pools will be split into two groups (1,4,5,8) & (2,3,6,7).  After the conclusion of round robin, the top two (2) teams from each pool will advance to a single elimination playoff (1A vs 2B,  1B vs 2A).

Division 3 Playoffs

The top eight (8) teams will play a 3-game round robin. Pools will be split into two groups (1,4,5,8) & (2,3,6,7).  After the conclusion of round robin, the top three (3) teams from each pool will advance to a single elimination playoff. The winner of each pool will receive a bye into the semifinals. The second and third place teams will play a cross over quarterfinal game (2A vs 3B,  2B vs 3A)

Division 4 Playoffs

The top six (6) teams will play a 3-game round robin. Pools will be split into two groups (1,4,5) & (2,3,6).  After the conclusion of round robin, the top team from each pool will receive a BYE.  The Quarterfinals will be a cross over format (2A vs 3B, 2B vs 3A) with the winners advancing to the semi-finals to face the two teams who earned byes.

Division 1, 2 & 3 National Championship Selection Seeding Format

The winners of the 2015-2016 Championship Games will be awarded an automatic bid to the 2015-2016 NCRHA National Championships.

Teams will then be ranked based on accumulation of points accumulated during the 2015-2016 season using the following format:

  1. Regular Season Wins   X  2 Points
  2. Regular Season Overtime Loss  X 1 Point
  3. Playoff Win  X 3 Points
  4. Playoff Overtime Loss  X  1 Point
  5. 3 Points will be awarded for any team earning a bye during the playoffs.

For Example - A team that finishes with a regular season record of 8-5-3 who goes 2-1-1 in the playoffs would finished with 26 points. 

  1. (16) points for 8 regular season wins
  2. (3) points for 3 regular season overtime losses
  3. (6) points for 2 playoffs wins
  4. (1) point for 1 playoff overtime loss
  5. (0) points for not earning a playoff bye
  6. Total Point (26)

Teams that finished tied with the same amount of points at the conclusion of the season will be broken as follows:

  1. Head to Head
  2. Team advancing the furthest in the playoffs
  3. Regular Season Points
